We had the Bairs over for Thanksgiving week. It was awesome. Rocky and I would go to work and come home to a dinner all ready made for us. Such a nice surprise. We also lucked out as the Bairs did most of the cooking on Thanksgiving day. Special thanks to Dean who took care of the Turkey. I don't know about Jacque but I couldn't even watch Dean rub seasonings and get the Turkey dressed. I almost couldn't eat it but after it came out of the over all nice and brown, moist and yummy smelling I changed my mind. It was so tasty. Rocky set up the table and we used our china for the first time. It got me dreaming of more china and more pieces that I think I need. I'm sure he loved that.
Some thanksgiving notes:
I still don't understand yams and marshmallows.
Why aren't the gross turkey insides just left out? Not bagged and put back in. Also are the parts from the original turkey put back in or are they another turkey parts? Just wondering.
Jacque and I don't make good cheesy beans..maybe we can try a different recipe next year.
Homemade rolls next year!
Maybe a table cloth ...
Christmas music during thanksgiving? - still debatable
Pajamas are a great alternative to dressing up
What we are thankful for -
Day after Thanksgiving:
Jacque and I got up super early and went shopping. She was up at 3:30, I was 3:50ish. We hit Kohls right around 4 and were totally surprised that there were lines all ready ending at the back of the store. Rocky was such a sweetheart and came to stand in line for us so we could hit other stores. Yay for awesome husbands. Chick-fil-a was also out early...around 5. They were giving out free breakfast gift cards. So I had Chick-fil-a at about 6:00am. That was a first and I think a new tradition for me. I LoVE Chick-fil-a.
Christmas Tree:
I thought it would be awesome and so much fun to have my nephews help me pick out a tree and decorate for Christmas. This wasn't my best idea. We did the best we could. They helped me pick out a real tree, okay well they went to the place with me to help pick out a tree, they were done with picking one out about 30 seconds into it. We did find a tree and the Bairs helped us bring it home. It is now sparkly and shinny (two weeks after we got it) with 900+ lights and random ornaments from our travels. I love it.
Honorable mentions:
I am sick with another cold. They are on full force against me. I have had 3 right in a row. No I'm not taking vitamin c like I should and yes I know better. Anyway I decided that it was time for me to get a Neti Pot and get this little nose of mine cleared out. Alien like substance is no long welcome in my nose. After the first use I was breathing like a champ and really felt "cleaned" out. I had my Bro-in-law try it as well. And after watching him use it I decided that he must also have one. If you don't know what this is click on the Neti Pot link and to watch a short demonstration see the video below. For those of you who are thinking gross...you should but please note that this was on an Oprah show and that makes it perfectly normal. :)

I'm so glad you updated! So many things to comment on.....I'm sorry about Sunday, and I promise we're not avoiding you. I agree they should throw away the turkey parts. That's awesome you got free breakfast from Chick-fil-a. They tried to give us coffee coupons. Boo. Pretty tree. Hooray for china. And no matter what The Rock says, you DO need more pieces.
You actually tried this and it actually worked????
Holy cow!!
Oh I miss you Joni!
Hahah that is so funny that you posted this today. My mom brought me a Neti pot today. I too have a wonderful cold. she had me use saline and (untoasted) sesame seed oil. It sure is gross but it works so well!
I have two other friends tell me they tried the pot thing this week and they feel great- so let us know the results
YES! I saw the Neti Pot on Oprah a few years ago and I have since coveted one. I have no doubt in my mind that it works (pshh Oprah says so) but I have yet to try it. Where did you find yours? Did you have to buy it online?
I got my Neti Pot at the local health food store, I did hear that they are selling them at Wal-Mart.
Looks like you guys had a great Thanksgiving! Your china looks so nice! And yeah, I saw that netty pot on Oprah a while ago and was wondering if it really worked!
That is one beautiful turkey...wow Martha!
