Help? What should I do?

So I got one of my down blankets washed at the drycleaner after our move here to Ohio...it had gotten a little dirty. While at the cleaners I got a call saying that the blanket had a huge rip in it and in order to wash it they needed to fix it or have me get it fixed. I thought this was very odd because I didn't notice a tear in the blanket. I was sure that I would have because I would have feathers all over my house right? Well I told them to go a head and fix the hole. So I get the blanket back about two weeks later and it has been hung up in the bag until today when I decided to put it on my bed. Rocky and I spread it out and there are holes ALL OVER in it. Little rips and tears...mostly by the stiching of the blanket but some elsewhere...just in random spots. I was totally shocked. The blanket hasn't been used too much and seriously there are no feathers in the house...until now. I'm planning on calling the cleaners tomorrow. Has anyone had this happen to them before? Any advice on what to do? OH and the stich that they had to make was HUGE. Like 12" long. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed that.

That really is a bummer. Years ago I took a dress to the cleaners and they called me to let me know they had ripped a small tear in it but they would fix it. I thought nothing of it til I got it back. Stitched it up in a way that made me wonder if a three year old had done it. Took it in and after me being pretty pushy got them to give me $ to replace the dress. Don't back down. Make them pay for a new one!

Thanks. I'll stand my ground on this one.

HOLY COW!!! I would totally call them back and just sweetly explain the situation, then I would make them pay for a new one :) I actually had taken a white down comforter when we first moved here to the dry cleaners and it came back smelling like a cat...I made sure to let them know...although, it didn't have holes..definitely hold your ground Joni!!

Check with the BBB and see if they have had complaints in the past. I'm not sure exactly how that will help, but it might give you some more ammunition to throw in their direction. Good luck!

Boo to the cleaners. Who was it so I don't go there?

So you'll have to keep us up dated with what happens. I'm very curious.

I figure you don't need advice anymore, but I am curious to know the outcome...
