Introducing James Rockford Wright

Our little guy is finally here.  He made his arrival on March 17th, St. Patricks Day, after 16 hours of labor.  Luckily 12 of the was with an epidural.  To those of you natural people...major kudos.  I had about an hour of 3-4 minute contractions and that was enough for me to know that an epidural was the right choice.  The epidural didn't work completely at the end and I was able to feel the contractions in one of my legs.  I was actually glad for it because then I knew when to push instead of relying on only the machines.  I only pushed for about a half hour, it probably could have been shorter but we were waiting for the Dr. arrive.  So I guess it was really pushing and waiting - not just pushing.  At 4:07 pm little James was born.  He was 8lbs 7 ounces and 21 3/4 inches long.  He had a massive cone head from being in the birth canal for so long.  I was able to hold him for just a minute because he had swallowed his marconium.  They were worried it had gone into his lungs.  They kept him in the nursery for a while and when he looked good they brought him to us.  It was almost surreal.  I couldn't believe we were parents.

James has been so fun to have around.  He slept 4 hours straight the second night he was home.  For the most part he sleeps 4-5 hours.  It has been nice.  We are still trying to figure out the feeding thing.  He does well during the day but at night, before bed, he wants to constantly eat.

He has managed to shoot poop onto my pants.  He has peed on his face, over his shoulder, and with a diaper on but managed to not get any in his diaper just all over his clothes.

He is so sweet and loves to cuddle with me which I LOVE!

Some surprising things for me after pregnancy....
-STRETCH MARKS - where did these come from?  I was sure I was stretch mark free.  As my tummy deflates I am finding that they are multiplying at an extremely rapid rate.
-Pre-pregnancy pants.  Hate me ladies.  Mine fit.  Okay Okay...they are stretch pants.....and I also wore them during pregnancy.  But it was still fun to say.
-The doughnut - my new best friend.  Sitting used to be painful until I started using THE DOUGHNUT.  Now I can sit with only minor discomfort.
-Leakage - that is all I will say about that.

-Love - loving the little guy more than I thought possible.

Oh my gosh what a little doll. You guys are the cutest parents. I seriously can't wait to see him! Can I come by the end of this week when I get back from Utah!? I still hate you for your pre-pregnancy pants. :) Amen to the doughnut as well.

Wow! So cute!
And you are so lucky he is sleeping for such a stretch! Sadly, the leakage is normal for many. But, don't worry. It gets better. Actually, it all does.
Wish we could be there to seem him!!
Congratulations guys!

Jones you did it!!!!! He is a doll! Nick pee'd on his face as well, he started screaming and I had a hard time stopping from laughing. Don't worry it gets even more fun when you start potty training. You, by the way, are looking great already! I am jealous!

Miss you!

Yay! Congratulations!! I'm glad everything's going well. And don't worry the pee will stay in the diaper someday. Maybe just strap him in a towel for a few weeks instead of wasting diapers because it goes everywhere! Not with girls though, just boys. Anyway, glad you're recovering and doing well.

you should write leakage.... etc.etc.etc... oh if it would ever end!!!!! etc.etc.etc...

good news. It is pretty fun to think of you guys as parents. but an 8 pound baby is great, and breast feeding is so much easier when he weighs that much! good job!

YEAH!!!! I have been waiting for this post. He looks so cute, and you two are cute parents. I told Rocky at church yesterday and I would be asking you guys for all the advice when our little one comes.

I would LOVE to meet little James when you are feeling up to visitors. Just think, we can walk around the path with our babies in their strollers this summer. And do other fun new mommy stuff. Can't wait!!!

What a beautiful little boy! I am so excited for you. I love the pictures, especially of you and Rocky bathing him together. Isn't it amazing how being a mother and how seeing this little baby, instantaneously changes your perspective, and expands your joy and love all at the same time, and you really didn't even know anything was missing or incomplete? Good luck, I hope he continues to be a good sleeper. Congratulations, again!!
